Dr. Sarah Ansbro
Hello! I am happy to be serving my hometown community. I trained at Baylor College of Medicine for medical school, then at the University of South Florida for residency. I published a couple papers along the way, became board certified, and taught and mentored quite a few students. I have two passions within my field. First, I have a passion for serving our LGBTQIA community here in San Antonio, including assistance with gender-affirming care. My second passion is to continue learning and exploring augmentation of allopathic medicine and psychotherapeutic techniques with holistic practices including meditation, Barnes-style myofascial release, reiki, and other modalities that help me to understand and better relate to my patients. My goal is to be able to speak the healing language that resonates best with you. I enjoy my daily Kriya yoga practice, skydiving, keeping fit, cooking, crochet, and sci-fi.
Monique Gonzalez, PMHNP
Hi, my name is Monique Gonzalez. I am originally from the Río Grande valley but have lived in San Antonio for 20 years. I received my post master’s certificate and Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Vanderbilt university. I have numerous years of experience working in the community for our underserved patients and individuals who have been incarcerated. My goal is to help guide my patients to achieve functionality in their daily lives through a healthy mind, body, and spirit. I enjoy traveling to new places and experiencing the new cultures for fun.

Hello! Thank you for visiting our practice, and congratulations on taking the courageous step of prioritizing your mental health! I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who graduated from the University of Missouri. I am a Texas transplant who has found a passion for serving our community– especially those who are LGBTQIA. Life is a journey; my job is to help you find the best pair of shoes for the walk! Some shoes may be too tight, too loose, or cause blisters. Together, we can find the best-fitting pair for you by integrating modalities from Western and Eastern therapies. In my free time, I like hanging out with my three cats (Baba Yaga, Bruja, and Benadryl) and my two rescue dogs (Pebbles and Madam Lady) and tending to my ever-growing array of plants!
Crystal D. Payne, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Hello! Welcome to our practice!I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of nursing experience, and received my MSN and post-graduate certification from Walden University. I began my nursing career in the ER and have spent the last 13 years working in the mental health field. While mental health nursing is my calling, I am passionate about serving those in the LGBTQIA community. In addition, I am experienced in working with adolescents and veterans with PTSD. I am a proud Mom to three adult children and two spoiled dachshunds. I enjoy baking, traveling abroad with my AF veteran spouse, Rhonda, and spending time with my two granddaughters.
Tesla
Hi! My name is Tesla. I found my Forever Home in the Florida swamps in March 2015. I saw Mom from my pen, where I was hanging out with some skunks who also were looking for their Forever Homes. It was love at first sight. We came to Texas later that year, and now we have a cool house with a lot of grass and bushes to make my own!! I started coming to Cantera Psychiatry with Mom in 2017. I like meeting all the new people. Some of them want comfort, and I like to cuddle up next to them on the couch, trying my best to help them feel better. Some don’t feel comfortable around me, and that’s okay, I can just hang out in my bed and listen to you talk. For fun, I like bacon, peanut butter, bushes, and walks where I can see and smell more bushes.
