Hello! I am a San Antonio native. I have a passion for serving our LGBTQIA community here in San Antonio, including providing assistance with gender confirmation, whether it be letters or hormone replacement. I founded Cantera Psychiatry to be able to see you in a safe space environment, where I can spend more time with you, and treat you as a whole person. Though some people just wish for medications, I find that most also need a caring advocate. My goal is to be that person for you. I trained at Baylor College of Medicine for medical school, then I trained at the University of South Florida for residency. I published a couple papers along the way, became board certified, and taught and mentored quite a few students. In addition to LGBTQIA services, we provide cutting-edge psychiatric interventions like transcranial magnetic stimulation and spravato (esketamine) treatment. For fun, I like to crochet, cook, and keep up with the latest sci-fi now, though I am a former avid skydiver.
Dennis Sneed, PMHNP
Hello. My name is Dennis Sneed. I am a board certified psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner. I have 10 years of experience promoting mental wellness for individuals struggling with various forms of depression, anxiety and psychosis. Prior to joining Cantera Psychiatry in November 2019, I worked at the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center, and more recently for an organization providing telemedicine services. Deciding to engage in mental health treatment is a critical step to take towards achieving both physical and emotional wellness; it is a decision I do not take lightly. Education serves as the foundation of my practice and I approach every person I see as an unique, holistic individual. I go to great lengths empowering individuals to make autonomous, informed decisions, whether that decision ultimately includes a medication or not. When not helping individuals achieve a better version of themselves I enjoy spending time with my family and exercising (not cardio; not so much a fan). I look forward to meeting you and walking with you on your journey to recovery.

I am originally from Austin but have lived in San Antonio for over a decade. I attended Texas Lutheran University where I received an undergraduate degree in biology and also had brief career in college basketball. I completed my BSN and MSN at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. I have two children and three dogs. I have practiced under the supervision of Dr. Ansbro since 2016 and excited to continue my career for many years with Cantera Psychiatry. I employ evidence based practice unified with clinical experience, education, and patient observation to provide the best treatment possible for each patient. I love what I do and believe every patient deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.

Hi! My name is Tesla. I found my Forever Home in the Florida swamps in March 2015. I saw Mom from my pen, where I was hanging out with some skunks who also were looking for their Forever Homes. It was love at first sight. We came to Texas later that year, and now we have a cool house with a lot of grass and bushes to make my own!! I started coming to Cantera Psychiatry with Mom in 2017. I like meeting all the new people. Some of them want comfort, and I like to cuddle up next to them on the couch, trying my best to help them feel better. Some don’t feel comfortable around me, and that’s okay, I can just hang out in my bed and listen to you talk. For fun, I like bacon, peanut butter, bushes, and walks where I can see and smell more bushes.
